Angelina Jolie's father thinks she "deserved" to be nominated for Best Director at the upcoming Oscars.
Jon Voight is disappointed the 'Unbroken' filmmaker wasn't put forward for the prestigious prize at the ceremony in Los Angeles on February 22, and hopes to work with her in the future.
The 'Ray Donovan' star said: "I wish she had [been nominated], because I think she deserved it. I think her direction is astounding, really astounding, and if she wasn't my daughter, I'd still say, 'I want to work for that one.' "
The 76-year-old actor thinks the brunette beauty, who won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her performance in 'Girl, Interrupted' in 2000, has proven she has the skills to work behind the camera.
According to Vulture.com, he told reporters at Clive Davis' pre-Grammys gala in Beverly Hills Saturday (07.02.15): "She's a great actor's director - the pace of the film, the size of the film. Unbelievably difficult stuff that she accomplished."
Angelina, 39, and Jon were estranged for eight years until 2010 after he accused her of having "serious mental problems."
But despite being on amicable terms again, he wasn't invited to her low-key wedding to Brad Pitt in France last August.
After finding out the news, he said: "It sounds like it was a wonderful wedding. It must have been very beautiful with the kids participating.
"I know it was during the Emmy week and they were able to do it very quietly. I'm very happy for them."
