Wes Craven has spoken out about his Scream 4 star David Arquette's decision to enter rehab for alcohol issues, insisting he's glad the actor is seeking help.
And the director, who brought Arquette and his estranged wife Courteney Cox together in the original Scream, is adamant the actor is too professional to let his personal problems and his marriage crisis get in the way of his promotional duties for the sequel, which hits cinemas is April (11).
Craven tells EW.com, "Those (Arquette and Cox) are both very professional people. I’m glad to hear that David is going into rehab.
"I saw him a little bit more because he was present during more of the shoot than Courteney. He was in a lot of pain, so it’s good that he’s getting some help."
And the filmmaker is hopeful his Scream stars can work out their problems and fix their marriage: "None of us knew anything was going on (during filming).
"I don’t know what their problems are, but it’s not that they hate each other that’s for sure. It’s something else."
