Tom Selleck has been awarded more than $187,000 (£114,000) after a jury in California found he had been duped into purchasing a lame horse.
The Magnum PI star went to court over claims Dolores Cuenca sold him a show horse with a medical condition, passing the animal off as fit for his 20-year-old daughter Hannah to ride in amateur competitions.
The jury in the civil case ruled in Selleck's favour on Thursday (03Sep09), awarding him a lump sum to cover the purchase price of the $120,000 (£73,000) horse, named Zorro, and additional boarding costs.
A second hearing will begin on Tuesday (08Sep09) to determine how much Selleck should be paid in damages.
Selleck's attorney, George Knopfler, says, "We are pleased with the jury's verdict and we look forward to the proceedings on Tuesday."
