Tom Brady has urged his fans to always wear a seat belt following his car crash in Boston, Massachusetts last week (ends12Sep10).
The American football star was involved in a smash as he was travelling through the city on Thursday morning (09Sep10).
He escaped relatively unscathed, but Brady admits he's still struggling to come to terms with the incident - as he was wrongly convinced he'd hit a female pedestrian.
He tells Boston's WEEI-AM radio, "I was scared out of my mind. I swear to God, it was like The Matrix. When the cars hit, I saw all the glass kind of explode. Then I saw her go flying. I thought, 'Oh, my God' as we're kind of skidding to a stop. I saw her go flying back.
"I'm telling you, when it happened, I didn't even know what to do, because you're just in shock. I was kind of sitting there in the car, looking around, trying to get my bearings... And then once I got home, then it really hits you.
"The ambulance, the people from the ambulance, the medics and the fire (brigade), they were very professional. They were great. The older gentleman in the other car definitely needed to be attended do, so that's where they were focusing their time. Hopefully, he's OK."
And Brady's convinced it was his car's safety strap which saved him from serious injury, adding, "Man, wear your seat belts. That's all I can tell everybody. You never know."
