Veteran rockers The Who praised fans for "sticking around" to watch their performance which closed the Glastonbury Festival last night (24Jun07). The band headlined the Pyramid Stage at the legendary event in Somerset, England, and guitarist Pete Townshend thanked festival-goers for staying to watch their set, despite heavy ran and muddy conditions over the duration of the three-day event (22-24Jun07).He told the crowd, "Thanks for sticking with us."It's a shame the weather's been so crap. It's raining. You're fantastic. You really are." The heavy downpours at the three day event turned the fields to a mud bath but that didn't 180,000 music fans enjoying this annual event.Over the weekend the crowd enjoyed performances from The View, Kaiser Chiefs, the Manic Street Preachers and Dame Shirley Bassey who performed at the festival for the first time in her long career.However the bad weather did bring with it a number of injuries by Sunday more than 1,200 people had been hurt mostly from bruises and sprains from slipping in the mud. But a 26 year old is reported to have died from what is believed to be a drugs overdose.
