Steven Spielberg has landed The Anti-Defamation League's highest honour for his work in human rights.
The Oscar-winning filmmaker, 62, will be presented with America's Democratic Legacy Award at the league's annual Los Angeles fundraiser next month (Dec09).
Executives have hailed the Schindler's List filmmaker as a "true champion of human rights". for his contributions to film and television, in addition to his philanthropic endeavours.
American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert and Israeli singer Noa Dori are among the performers set for the event.
The dinner gala is scheduled for 9 December at the Beverly Hilton hotel.
Spielberg has been more of a producer this year than a filmmaker as he took on producing roles on
The Trial of the Chicago 7, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and Lovely Bones, which is due out next year.
But he returns to the director's chair with a string of projects in the pipeline including Lincoln and The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn, both due out in 2011.
