Rarely seen home movies from the personal collections of Hollywood legends like Alfred Hitchcock and Steve McQueen are to air as part of a one-night film festival in Hollywood. The Academy Of Motion Picture Arts And Sciences will present Hollywood Home Movies: Treasures From The Academy Film Archive next month (Aug07).A spokeswoman for the event says, "Hollywood Home Movies will feature excerpts of at-home, on-vacation and behind-the-scenes set activities captured by stars and directors from Hollywood's Golden Age."The short film festival will also feature vintage news footage about the construction of Los Angeles City Hall in 1926 and a documentary about Hollywood Boulevard, shot in 1947. Actor Steve McQueen, who is featured in the presentation, was one of the biggest box office draws in the 1950s 1960 and was labelled 'The King of Cool'.He appeared in some of cinemas most iconic movies including The Magnificent Seven, The Great Escape and Bullitt, which contains the most famous car chase sequence in cinema.Alfred Hitchcock was one of the most influential directors who developed the genre of suspense and thriller that are still admired today.
The late 1950s and early 1960s was the pinnacle of Hitchcok's career producing classics such as The Birds, North By North West and perhaps his most famous picture Psycho.
