Steve Jobs, the man behind the iPhone, iPad and iPod has resigned as CEO of Apple after ongoing poor health.
In a letter sent to 'the Apple community' on Wednesday, Jobs reveals he can no longer handle the job.
He took an indefinite leave of absence from the company at the beginning of the year due to an undisclosed medical issue. This was his thired medical leave in recent years.
Jobs has remained quite ill since surviving pancreatic cancer in 2009.
In a letter to the Apple employees, he wrote: " have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come."
Tim Cook will replace his as CEO, however, Jobs will stay on as the electronics company board chairman
