Dunaway Moves Out Of New York Apartment To End Dispute
Faye Dunaway has vacated her rented New York apartment for good to settle a long-running legal dispute with her landlord.
The Bonnie and Clyde star has been leasing a one-bedroom, rent-stabilised pad in Manhattan's pricey Upper East Side since 1994 for just over $1,000 -a-month - almost half the going rate for the area.
Her landlord, Henry Moses, Jr., sued the actress in August (11) in a bid to have her evicted, claiming she had failed to keep her rent payments up to date and was not even eligible for rent regulation as she spent most of her time in Los Angeles. State laws require tenants to use rent-controlled properties as their primary residence.
Dunaway hit back and alleged the apartment was in a state of disrepair, insisting she had moved out in May (11).
The two parties have been battling it out in court for the past three months and a judge recently ordered Dunaway to bring her rent payments up to date in exchange for the landlord to carry out the required repairs.
The case was due to return to court in March (12), but the actress, 70, has since chosen to leave the property altogether. Her lawyer informed Moses, Jr. that she'd moved out on Monday (21Nov11).
