Sharon Stone Raises Big Buck For Aids Charity....

Actress Sharon Stone has proved she was worthy of her new role as the global fundraising chairwoman of Aids charity AmFar - she raised more than $1.35 million (£675,000) at an Italian charity auction on Friday (26Oct07).The Basic Instinct star, 49, presented the benefit in Rome, Italy - where she is attending the Rome Film Festival - with guests including model Eva Herzigova, director Sofia Coppola and actress Mira Sorvino.At one point, Stone even auctioned off her own necklace for $50,000 (£25,000), following a special request from a member of the audience.Other items which went under the hammer include a portrait of Italian actress Alida Valli by artist Francesco Vezzoli ($140,000/£70,000) and a Fendi baguette purse signed by Stone and a number of other celebrities ($60,000/£30,000).
