Christina Applegate has been dealt a career blow - her critically acclaimed U.S. TV comedy has been axed.
According to Daily Variety, ABC bosses have cancelled Samantha Who? due to economic reasons.
Applegate was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy for the sitcom last year (08).
The show hit screen in 2007 and follows Samantha Newly (Applegate), a 30-year-old vice president of a real estate firm who develops retrograde amnesia after a hit and run accident.
P.S I Love You writer Cecelia Ahern was behind the creation of the show along with Don Tood, both serving as producers on the series.
The actress underwent a mastectomy last year (08) after she was diagnosed with breast cancer, however the cancer was only found in one breast.
She is now cancer free and proceeded with a normal shooting schedule for Samantha Who last year.
