Sally Field has a new sporting hobby - she has become obsessed
with golf.
The Forrest Gump actress has recently taken up the pastime after taking her
first lesson with former golfing star Peggy Kirk Bell. She says, "I would go to all these locations and think ... why don't I play
golf? People walk around and enjoy God, God's gifts, the trees, so I think I've
always thought I should have that in my life."The actress also adds she keeps a set of golf clubs by her bedroom as
inspiration. Field began her career in television landing roles in Gidget and The Flying Nun but
by the late 70's she had turned her attention to movies.She won her first Academy Award in 1979 for her role as a union organiser in Norma Rae.
She won the second in 1985 for Places in the Heart.More recently she has returned to her television roots playing Abby Lockhart's bipolar
disorder suffering mum Maggie in ER for which she won an Emmy.
And she can currently be see in new U.S drama Brothers and Sisters.
