Russell Brand's lewd phone calls have now caught the attention of the Prime Minister

Prime Minister Gordon Brown has blasted comedian Russell Brand over his prank phone calls to Fawlty Towers legend Andrew Sachs.More than 10,000 people are now said to have lodged complaints against Brand and U.K. chatshow host Jonathan Ross over the scandal. The pair provoked outrage by leaving a series of crude phone messages for Sachs, in which they claimed Brand had slept with the actor's granddaughter Georgina.Brand has since apologised for the stunt, which happened on-air during his show on BBC Radio 2 on 18 October. But pressure is mounting for the BBC to take action against the pair - and the British Prime Minister has now waded into the row, telling reporters the broadcasting watchdog Ofcom is investigating the incident.Brown says, "This is clearly inappropriate and unacceptable behaviour, as is now widely recognised. Ofcom have said they will investigate the matter and it is for the BBC, the BBC Trust and Ofcom to take any appropriate action."
