Nelson Mandela's daughter Zindziswa has been ordered to pay a boxing promoter $7.5 million (GBP4.7 million) after allegedly pulling out of a deal to stage a Manny Pacquiao fight.
Duane Moody claimed Zindziswa Mandela hired him to plan a fight between Pacquiao and rival Floyd Mayweather, Jr. for her father's birthday but she allegedly ditched the project as the promoter was in talks with the boxers' managers.
Moody claims Zindziswa promised to pay him a 15 per cent commission on all proceeds of a clash that was expected to gross over $100 million (GBP62.5 million).
According to legal documents, obtained by TMZ.com, Mandela failed to respond to the plaintiff's 2011 complaint, so a Los Angeles judge entered a default judgment, awarding the promoter $7.5 million in damages, plus costs.
Mandela's lawyers plan to challenge the judgment.
