Rapper Nelly has laughed off rumours he's proposed to longterm girlfriend Ashanti, insisting the reports are incredibly far-fetched. The Hot In Herre hitmaker - born Cornell Haynes Jr. - has been dating R&B singer Ashanti since November 2003, but the hip-hop star denies they are set to walk down the aisle anytime soon.When asked if the couple is planning to get married, Nelly exclaimed, "Say what?! Wow, you just jumped out of the blue with that one. Yeah, you reaching."Nelly is one of the best selling rappers who rose to popularity in early 2000 selling 40 million albums worldwide.His debut album Country Grammer went twenty times platinum and entered the Billboard Top 40 at number one. The album went on to be nominated for three MTV Video -Music Awards. His second album Nellyville was released two years later in 2002 it also entered the Billboard 200 at number one where it stayed for three weeks. It went on to go fifteen times platinum.In 2003 Nelly won two Grammy awards; Best Male Rap Solo Performance and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration with Kelly Rowland.

The rapper has two children with his highschool sweetheart Chanel, born in 1994 and Cornell III.
