Michael Douglas is looking forward to his 10th wedding anniversary with wife Catherine Zeta-Jones later this year (10) - because his cancer battle has taught him to "savour" life's special moments.
The veteran star has been undergoing intensive chemotherapy and radiation treatment for throat cancer following his diagnosis last month (Aug10).
The Welsh beauty has been a constant support to the Wall Street star - and he admits their upcoming anniversary on 18 November (10) will be especially poignant in the wake of his health battle.
He tells Britain's Daily Mirror, "Time goes so fast. I'm looking forward to our anniversary and I'll be back in good health so we can really enjoy it - although we haven't yet decided what we are going to do.
"(Our marriage) is a great legacy and because of my health issues it's having added importance. I'm going to really savour the moments and savour the time because it goes so fast."
The Oscar winner also revealed that he was hoping to keep his cancer battle a secret - until he realised his intensive treatment would affect promotion for Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps.
The actor was determined to keep the health news to himself following his diagnosis with throat cancer but when doctors advised him to undergo intensive chemotherapy and radiation treatment, Douglas realised he'd have to tell movie bosses.
He tells Britain's Daily Mirror, "When I got my biopsy result I wondered if I could keep it to myself, but then I knew what my programme would be - eight weeks of intense radiation combined with chemotherapy overlapping with the premiere - I realised I'd have to tell the studio."
The brave star walked the red carpet with wife Catherine Zeta-Jones at the New York premiere of the film on Monday night (20Sep10).
