Martin Sheen is hoping to return to Europe to tackle the 497mile El Camino de Santiago pilrimage alone on foot before he dies.
The former West Wing star drove part of the way with his grandson in 2003 and returned to the route to shoot new film The Way with his son Emilio Estevez, but is yet to do it properly.
And, just like his latest film character, he is planning to wlk from Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port in France to the Spanish town of Santiago de Compostela, where the remains of St James, the apostle of Jesus, are believed to be buried, much like othe pilgrims.
The 71 year-old says: "I've done it in a car, I've done it in a film and I still look forward to doing it with no camera, no car, no phone; just me and a walking stick. I would love to do it."
