Marc Foster has been given the go ahead to direct the 22nd James Bond movie.The 37 year old, German born Foster has an impressive back catalouge including Monster's Ball which won Halle Berry her Best Actress Oscar in 2001.The director has also made Finding Neverland which landed Johnny Depp and Oscar nomination, The Kite Runner and more recently Stranger than Fiction.It's also rumoured that Foster turned down the opportunity to direct Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. In a statement Foster said: "I have always been drawn to different kinds of stories, and I have always been a bond fan, so it is ver exciting to take on the challenge."The script has been penned by Oscar winning screenwriter Paul Haggis, Neil Purvis and Robert Wade, the trio shared screen writing credits for Casiono Royale which went on to gross almost $600 million worldwide.The 22nd Bond, which is yet untitled, will see Daniel Craig reprise the role of 007 after winning over the fans and critics with his performance in casino Royale as a more rugged and vulnerable Bond. The casting of Daniel Craig caused backlash from some of the franchise's long standing fans, many believing that Craig ws not suitable for the role and calling for a replacement. However Craig silenced his critics on the films release making Casino Royale the highest grossing Bond movie of all time.

The 22nd Bond film will begin shooting in December and is due for release in November 2008.
