Lindsay Lohan's legal troubles have taken yet another turn for the worse - the lawyer who defended the actress in her probation violation case has quit.
The Mean Girls star was sentenced to 90 days in jail on Tuesday (06Jul10) after a Los Angeles judge ruled she had broken the terms of her probation from a 2007 DUI arrest by failing to attend court-ordered alcohol education classes.
Her legal representative, Shawn Chapman Holley, issued a statement on behalf of the actress on Thursday morning (08Jul10), calling the punishment "harsh and unfair" - and then resigned, according to TMZ.com.
The website reports Lohan will now be represented by Tiffany Feder-Cohen.
Lohan has been ordered to surrender to a Los Angeles court on 20 July (10) and will spend the rest of the summer behind bars.
After she is released, she must spend another 90 days in residential rehab.
Reports suggest the actress plans to appeal the decision to send her to jail with Feder-Cohen at her side.
