Actor turned environmentalist Leonardo Dicaprio has struck a deal with the owners of the Four Seasons Resorts chain to create a 'green hotel' in Belize. The new environmental Caribbean getaway will be built on land the Titanic star owns on the island.New York gossip columnist Liz Smith reports ground-breaking on the new hotel will begin in 2008. For several years the actor has been the leading celebrity voice to speak out about global warming and calling for action to prevent further damage to the planet. He has openly stated that he drieves a hybrid car and that his house is fitted with solar panels.His recent documentary 11th Hour, which he co-wrote, co-produced and narrated, looked at the state of the natural enviroment and the damage inflicted upon it had solutions to halt this damage.
