Leighton Meester to quit Gossip Girl
Actress Leighton Meester will bow out from hit TV series Gossip Girl after her contract ends in 2012.
The 24-year-old has starred as Blair Waldorf on the show since it was premiered in the US in 2007, but Meester admits she is looking to move away from the show and focua on other work.
When asked by Eonline.com's Marc Malkin how much longer she'll remain on the programme, she says, "Two more years. Because we're under contract."
Meester has already embarked on a career on the big screen starring alongside Gwyneth Paltrow in Country Strong.
She is also signed to Universal Republic as a solo singer and recorded a cover version of Rascal Flatts' Words I Couldn't Say for the new movie.
