Many of those in the public eye can often be found accompanied by a friend to stop them from getting lonely, but not the typical friend most people may have. We are of course talking about celebrity pets, who can often be found taking pride of place in said celebrity’s handbag.

Yes, celebrity pets get to live the highlife, not even having to walk from place to place as they look all snug and smug under their owner’s arm, but some of us just can’t help but fall in love with the furry little critters. Perhaps the fact they cannot answer back is the reason for such popularity with the stars. Here, we’ve put together a list of some of our favourite pets and their owners that spend or have spent their lives in the spotlight.

1.       The Queen’s Corgis

Our Monarch of course has to top our list with her world famous horde of pampered pooches. Although rarely photographed, it’s hard not to think of the canines when Queen Elizabeth’s name is brought into conversation. The pets travel with Her Majesty to various royal residencies and most likely want for nothing!

2.       Giggy the Pom

Lisa Vanderpump, star of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is rarely seen without her Pomeranian Giggy, who suffers from alopecia. Lisa sees this simply as an excuse to dress him up at any given time, and so he can regularly be seen in a variety of glamorous outfits! Giggy is a celebrity in his own right, building up a following of over 54,000 on Twitter!

3.       Paris Hilton and Tinkerbell

At one point, Paris had 17 tail-waggers to her name, inspiring her to launch her own range of dog clothing named Little Lily by Paris Hilton, sending some of the profits to a benefit animal rescue. Describing the line, Paris said it consisted of “everything you can imagine for humans, but for dogs.” Tinkerbell the Chihuahua is the most well-known of the group, and lives in a pet house worth an estimated $325,000 with the rest of her doggy family.

4.       Michael Jackson’s chimpanzee Bubbles

Bubbles became a household name back in the 80s, and was a long-time companion of the King of Pop, MJ. The chimp made himself at home in both the Jackson family residence and Neverland Ranch during his time with Michael, but was eventually sent to the Center for Great Apes in Florida because of a rise in his aggression.

5.       Bo Obama

One of the many promises Barack Obama made in his bid to become the next president was that if he did win the title, he would buy a dog for his daughters Sasha and Malia. The late Senator Edward Kennedy gifted the Obamas with Bo after Barack won the election, and Bo moved into The White House on Tuesday 14 April, 2009.
