Lawsuit against U.S. TV star, Elisabeth Hasselbeck thrown out of court

The View co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck has had a plagiarism lawsuit against her thrown out by a judge due to lack of evidence.

Author Susan Hassett filed papers against the U.S TV personality last year after claims that Hasselbeck had used text from her book, Living With Celiac Disease to create her best-seller, The G-Free Diet: A Gluten-Free Survival Guide.

Hasset claimed Hasselbeck included "dozens of paraphrased as well as word for word regurgitations of phrases." The lawsuit was rejected on a technicality and Hassett refiled the request.

The case was officially dismissed on 3 Dec 2010 on insufficient evidence to prove the star had violated the writer's copyright - according to TMZ.com.

Hasselbeck's attorney tells the website, "Today's ruling is a complete victory. It confirms that Elisabeth wrote her best-selling book The G-Free Diet based on her own personal experiences and did not copy a thing from the plaintiff."
