La Toya Jackson wants to be named guardian of her late brother Michael's children if her elderly mother dies before they are adults.

The pop superstar, who passed away in June (09), left instructions that his mother Katherine should be awarded guardianship of Prince Michael, Paris and Prince Michael II in his will - but suggested his friend Diana Ross should take over if the 79 year old died.

Jackson's sister La Toya admits she would fully support Ross if that situation was to occur, but would prefer to take on the responsibility herself.

She says, "According to the will, Diana Ross will be the guardian if anything happens to my mother.

"I know Diana would do a good job with them, but I think the kids will stay within the family and I'd be more than delighted to look after them."

However it was revealed over the weekend that the children had grown close to Janet accoding to the Daily Mirror.

A source told the newspaper:"Katherine does the best she can for those kids. But it's really Janet who has become the main force in their lives. They absolutely adore her.

"Janet is really careful not to step on her mother's toes because there has been a bit of a battle among the Jackson women over who should raise the kids,"
