Julie Christie will be honoured with the Independent by Nature
Award at the forthcoming Aspen Filmfest in Colorado.
The Doctor Zhivago beauty, 67, will receive the award next month (26-30Sep07)
because of her individualism and creative risk-taking.Laura Thielen, executive director of Aspen Film, says, "We are honoured to
celebrate this exceptionally gifted actor."Despite Doctor Zhivargo being one of Cgristie's most famous roles it was the film
she did before that Darling that landed the actress the Oscar for Best Actress in 1966.Throughout the 1970s she appeared in a string of movies included Far From The Madding Crowd,
The Go-Between, Don't Look Now and McCabe and mrs Miller which earnt her her second Oscar
nomination.Christie has made a comback in the last decade appearing in Afterglow, for which she recieved her
third Oscar nomination, Troy as Achilles' mother and Finding Neverland alongside Johnny Depp
and Kate Winslet.
