Two and a Half Men star, Jon Cryer had no idea Charlie Sheen was heading in the direction of a meltdown while they were working together on the show.
He admitted he was caught off-guard when his friends personal and professional life was turned upside down and said "nobody was prepared."
Cryer said: "We didn't see where it was going. This has never happened before.... I did not see it coming. Nobody saw it coming."
Sheen was fired from the sitcom in March after publicity regarding his wild antics and rehab but nobody saw any of the usual warning signs.
The Alan Harper actor said: "None of us wanted to continue with the show if we felt it was hurting him, and there was a point when everyone felt like there was no control here.
"When [the show was temporarily] shut down, it was the end of the world for some people. There are a lot of fans on the show and when we shut it down, it his people hard."
Cryer is certain that he has Sheens best interests at heart, saying he wants him to "get healthy," adding, "I want him to stay sober, I want him reunited with his family. That would be the best thing."
Sheen has now been replaced by Ashton Kutcher for the forseeable future.
