Jackass star Johnny Knoxville has filed for divorce from his wife of nearly 12 years. The 36-year-old has cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for ending his marriage to wife Melanie, according to legal papers filed at Los Angeles County Superior Court on Tuesday (03Jul07).Knoxville is seeking joint custody of the couple's daughter. He will also pay spousal support, reports website TMZ.com. Knoxville is best know for his daredevil stunts in Jackass alongside Tremaine, Chris Pontius, Steve-O and Dave England which has resulted in two movies.The idea for the show came around when, having failed to make it as an actor Knoxville began testing self defense equipment on himself which was picked up by magazine Big Brother.The stunts became a trade mark for the magazine before they pitched the idea to MTV.Knoxville's fame from the show gave him a way into the movie industry, and to date he has appeared in Dukes of Hazzard, The Ringer, Men In Black II and Lords of Dogtown.
