Hollywood director John Singleton was involved in a car crash that has killed a 57-year-old woman in Los Angeles. The Boyz in the Hood filmmaker was driving his SUV in the city on Thursday (23Aug07) when Constance Russell stepped in front of his car. A spokesman for Los Angeles Police Department confirmed Singleton was neither speeding nor under the influence of drugs or alcohol and described the incident as "a very, very unfortunate accident".The spokesman added Singleton waited at the scene for police and an ambulance to arrive.The woman was taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead.Singleton was nominated for an Oscar for best director and best origional screenplay for his 1991 movie Boys N The Hood.He went to direct Shaft and 2 Fast 2 Furious as well as produce Hustle and Flow and Black Snake Moan.
