John Slattery has defended his Mad Men co-star January Jones over comments her one-time TV son made about her in a recent magazine interview.
Jared Gilmore, who played Jones' character Betty Draper's kid Bobby in the show, offered his successor a few words of advice in a TV Guide article, stating, "Be careful around January.
“She's not as approachable as the others. She's really serious about what she does. Everyone else is so nice."
But Slattery has brushed off the remarks, insisting young Gilmore must have felt intimidated by Jones' onscreen alter-ego.
He tells E! News, "She's a sweetheart. We got lucky. We don't have anybody like that (unapproachable).
"It's an intimidating character. I mean, that's the character. Betty Draper is an intimidating woman I suppose, if you were a seven-year-old boy (or) her son."
