John Galliano's lawyer has blamed the fashion designer's scandalous outburst in Paris, France on a bad reaction to a deadly cocktail of "alcohol mixed with medications".

The famed couturier was thrust into the spotlight last month (Feb11) following allegations he hurled anti-Semitic abuse at two strangers during a night out in the French capital.

A police investigation was launched and he was fired from his post as head designer at Christian Dior last week (01Mar11), while a video purportedly showing Galliano praising Nazi leader Adolf Hitler in another drunken rant has emerged online.

Galliano's lawyer, Stephane Zerbib, has now spoken out about the ongoing police probe and suggested the designer's alleged bad behavior can be attributed to him mixing alcohol with prescription pills.

Zerbib tells Ynetnews.com, "I have no explanation (for what happened). It could happen to any one of us. Anyone can go to a bar, drink a little and get into a fight with someone... It's alcohol mixed with medications. You're very vulnerable when you're in this state...

"People who don't know the case can afford to say things and they all have opinions. It's easy to talk, criticize, be appalled. But these people don't know what really happened... Galliano is not a racist or an anti-Semite."

And in reference to the video which emerged online, Zerbib adds, "Of course it's appalling... Let's just say that today this video is worth nothing."
