Joanne Baldwin Checks Into Rehab

Daniel Baldwin's estranged wife Joanne has checked into a California treatment centre in a bid to conquer her alcohol issues.

The news comes less than two months after the couple announced plans to divorce and end its four-year marriage, following a turbulent 10 months.

Subsequently, the pair's two young daughters were removed from Joanne's care and placed in the hands of officials at the Department of Human Services while their father was on location shooting a film.

And now Joanne has sought professional help in getting sober.

During an appearance on U.S. breakfast show Today on Monday (05Dec11), her estranged husband revealed, "My ex, she is getting help now. She's at a sober recovery centre in Malibu. And she's trying to get the message."

Joanne Baldwin was arrested for driving under the influence earlier this year (11) shortly after the actor first split from her following an alleged drunken domestic squabble during which he claimed his wife had threatened his life in front of their daughters.

During a TV interview with newsman Piers Morgan earlier this year (11), Baldwin opened up about his heartbreak over his estranged wife's alleged alcohol addiction, after struggling with his own substance abuse demons for years.

He told the Brit he was open to a reconciliation with his wife if she got clean.

He adds, "She needs to understand that this (the divorce) is an ultimatum now. I can always reverse that or stop that should she decide to get some help...
