Joanna Lumley has urged fans to become vegetarian, insisting eating processed meats can increase the risk of cancer.
The Absolutely Fabulous star - who hasn't eaten animal flesh for 40 years - has teamed up with British food company Sharwood's to create the Mango Chutney and Kashmiri Chilli to raise funds for veteran Gurkha soldiers.
And at the launch of her veggie preserve, she took the opportunity to speak out about a healthy diet, insisting growth hormones used in modern farming practises are linked to a huge rise in cancer rates.
Lumley says, "When I was young, I heard of one person who had cancer in all my growing up, a friend of my mother. So why have we got so much cancer?
"Could it be the growth hormones in the food we eat, that try to make all the chickens, sheep and cows, more productive?
"I just find living as a vegetarian keeps me completely fit."
