Joanna Garcia and her baseball ace husband Nick Swisher spent their Thanksgiving holiday with U.S. troops stationed in Afghanistan as part of their belated honeymoon.
The former Privileged star wed New York Yankees player Swisher last December, but they were too busy to take a romantic honeymoon and decided to postpone the traditional vacation until after the baseball season was over.
Garcia revealed in August that the couple was planning to spend their first foreign break as husband and wife in the war-torn Middle Eastern country, and they chose to make it a triple celebration by jetting to Afghanistan for the American holiday and for Swisher's 31st birthday on Friday.
The stars were pictured in the country on Friday dressed in camouflaged body armour in the Logar province.
Taking to Twitter.com to blog about the experience, Garcia wrote: "Just crossing over the Afghanistan border. Speeding (sic) the last week visiting our troops has been remarkable. I was among true heroes... The sacrifice our soldiers & their families make is something we should never take 4 (sic) granted. God bless all of u @ (sic) home & abroad!"
She later added: "Wishing @NickSwisher a very happy bday (birthday). Each day I'm reminded of how blessed I am to b married 2 such an incredible man (sic). Love you so much!"
