Jerry Weintraub, the movie mogul behind the Ocean's Eleven film franchise, is seeking a restraining order against his former assistant - alleging the man is a danger to his family.

Weintraub, a film producer and former boss of the United Artists studio, has filed papers at Los Angeles County Superior Court with his estranged wife Jane, claiming the man, named only as Steven, was fired amid allegations he stole $45,000 (£28,000) in cash to support a "gambling and drug habit."

The document goes on to reveal that just days after his dismissal, Jane received a phone call in the early hours of the morning from Steven's daughter, who claimed her father was upset and was on his way back to the house to collect a gun.

The papers claim the daughter warned them Steven, who knew all of the access codes to Weintraub's property, "planned to come to our house with his gun."

The Weintraubs are asking a judge to keep Steven away from the entire family - and their mansions in Malibu, Beverly Hills and Palm Desert, according to TMZ.com.
