James Franco stunned revellers at the 150th anniversary party of Italian alcoholic beverage Campari - when he was announced as the event's singing act.
The Spider-Man star was invited on-stage at the lavish bash at New York's Bowery Hotel last week (ends16May10), and baffled guests when he unleashed a string of hits with the help of a male performer in a Lady Gaga costume.
But the booze giants' bosses may be regretting hiring the actor as their in-house entertainment - after his performance was dismissed as "karaoke".
A source tells the New York Daily News, "He was dressed like James Bond and did a duet with a male performer who was wearing a Lady Gaga-esque outfit.
"It was really entertaining, but a few audience members were saying it sounded a bit like karaoke."
The actor has a string of projects this year with Eat,Pray,Love, Your highness, Howl, Mystery White Boy all in post production.
He is also set to work on 127 Hours as well as returning to daytime soap General Hospital.
