The arrest of Lil Wayne and Ja Rule on weapons charges has been slammed by their attorney as he claims it's 'another instance of hip-hop targeting'.An attorney for rappers Lil' Wayne and Ja Rule has slammed their arrests on weapons charges, insisting it's "another instance of hip-hop targeting". Lil' Wayne - real name Dwayne Michael Carter Jr - was arrested in Manhattan shortly after his performance at the Beacon Theater on Sunday night (22Jul07). Police claim Carter was found carrying a .40 calibre pistol after he was stopped for smoking marijuana.Meanwhile, the Always On Time star - real name Jeffrey Atkins - and two associates were arrested in Manhattan on Sunday for speeding, and a search of their vehicle uncovered a .40 calibre pistol. However, lawyer Stacey Richman - representing both stars - claims the firearm police recovered from inside Atkins' car belonged to someone else. Richman tells MTV, "If you get a car, and something's left in the car, is that yours? How you can ascribe that anybody knows what's in a car?"Referring to his speeding charge, she adds, "Why would he speed for one block? What, he's going to speed to the next light on Broadway? Come on."
Both rappers have been released on bail following the separate arrests.
