New York's Glitz

New York's Glitz

New York City, Anna Wintour, put together another incredible, star-studded Costume Institute gala for the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Mixing the biggest names in fashion and Hollywood, it is the social event of the year, and the after-parties are just as fantabulous. Let me tell you just some of the people who hit the gala: Lindsay Lohan, Gisele Bündchen, Winona Ryder, Renée Zellweger, Rosario Dawson, Mischa Barton, Christina Ricci and powerhouse couples Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony and Jessica Simpson and John Mayer, among many others. I must tell you about Jennifer Hudson's night at the shindig. She sang three songs, and when the Oscar winner finished with "I Am Changing," I'm told that "everyone was on their feet and would not stop clapping." Hudson gave them an encore of "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going" from Dreamgirls. (I'm working on some more on Ms. Hudson, which I promise to have for you tomorrow.) First-time attendee Jennifer Garner summed up the event best when she was overheard telling a friend, "It's so overwhelming." It is, but if you think that's good, lemme tell you about the after-parties. First up, the Olsen twins at the Balenciaga bash at the legendary Chinese eatery Mr. Chow. Ashley and Mary-Kate were spotted dancing with Rolling Stones legend Mick Jagger! Ivanka Trump also joined them on the dance floor.

Get your mind out of the gutter. It wasn't anything more than some friendly late-night partying. Jagger's longtime girlfriend, stylist and designer L'Wren Scott, was there, too.

Kirsten Dunst continued her love tour with new rocker boyfriend, Johnny Borrell. "They were making out all over at Mr. Chow," a fellow partygoer reports.

Also appearing to be quite friendly were Ellen Barkin and The Queen's Michael Sheen. "There were very talky-talky," is how my partygoing spy describes the twosome. Julia Louis-Dreyfus also hit Mr. Chow, as did Channing Tatum, Jennifer Connelly and Paul Bettany and Claire Danes and her newest on-set hookup, Hugh Dancy.

I'm told that by about 1:30 a.m., Mr. Chow completely cleared out. Most folks then headed over to Bungalow 8, the Box or the Gramercy Park Hotel.

One partygoer at the Box describes the place as being a "clusterf--k" of celebrities. Danes and Dancy were there, as were Dunst and Borrell and Barkin.

Over at Bungalow 8, former lovebirds Scarlett Johansson and Josh Hartnett were, as one spy reports, "amicably sweet" to one another but didn't hang out all that long. Also packing it in at the Bungalow bash were Helena Christensen, Liv Tyler, Sienna Miller's model-beau Jamie Burke, Gerard Butler, Michael Kors, Karolina Kurkova, Calvin Klein designer Francisco Costa, Harvey Weinstein and his Marchesa designer girlfriend, Georgina Chapman, and Tommy Hilfiger.

Who were some of the last to go home? The Olsens, Kate Bosworth, Angie Harmon and Stella McCartney were there until at least 4:45 a.m., when one of my spies took off.

But the night-well, morning-had to come to an end sometime. Another one of my spies spotted Bungalow's nightlife-impresario owner Amy Sacco locking up-with at least five players from the New York Rangers hockey team by her side-at 5 a.m.

Lucky gal!
