Estelle Getty's sonThe son regrets selling off the Emmy Award she won for her role in The Golden Girls - insisting he should have donated the trophy to a museum.
Getty died in 2008 and her sons Carl and Barry Gettleman failed to agree on how to split her possessions, and the 1988 best supporting actress prize was sold to an anonymous buyer in an auction of her belongings.
The statue later turned up on eBay.com, much to the chagrin of bosses at the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, who attempted to have the sale stopped.
It is not known where the trophy ended up, but Carl Gettleman now admits he shouldn't have let the Emmy go.
He tells Reuters, "The Emmy had far more sentimental value than (money value) for me, but there's no way to split an Emmy between two (people).
"It should have been made accessible to the public. She was so appreciative of her fans, she would have preferred it somewhere where (they) could see it."
