A new lawsuit filed by rapper Eminem claims that computer giant Apple has no right to sell his music. The suit, filed on Monday (30Jul07) in the U.S. District Court in Detroit, accuses Apple of violating copyright by selling Eminem tracks through its download service iTunes. Eminem's music publisher and copyright manager, Eight Mile Style and Martin Affiliated, insist Apple isn't permitted to sell his music because the rapper has not granted his label, Universal, the right to authorise downloads. Apple has been asked to stop selling Eminem's tracks but has so far refused, the suit claims. Eminem previously sued Apple in 2004 after the company used his song Lose Yourself in an iTunes TV commercial. The advert was never released. Eminem or Marshall Mathers released his debut album The Slim Shady LP in 1999 and to date the record has gone four times platinum.He followed it up with his second album The Marshall Mathers LP sold 1,760,049 copies in its first week making it fastest selling rap album of all time.

However the album provoked backlash from feminists and gay-right activists.
