Rapper Eminem is set to shock Mariah Carey by releasing a series of scathing tracks about her, according to reports. The star - real name Marshall Mathers III - has allegedly drawn inspiration from a brief affair with the singer in 2001 for his new album. But Carey is upset and has pleaded with label boss L.A. Reid to stop the tracks from being released. A source tells OK! magazine, "There is more than one track that goes into really specific, intimate detail about what went on between Em and Mariah. "Mariah wishes she could sue Eminem for slander. But it's his freedom of speech." Carey has previously denied the romance, telling Playboy magazine earlier this year (07), "Something is clearly askew with him. I'm curious as to why he's so obsessed with me." During his career, which has seen him sell 70 million albums worldwide, the rapper has aways been at the heart of controversy.He was accused of homophobia after the release of The Marshall Mathers LP for which he won a Grammy at the awards show he performed his hit 'Stan' with Elton John.

The same album also drew criticism that tracks such as 'Kill You' and 'Kim' it encouraged violence towards women.

But Mariah Carey is not the first star to get caught in the rapper's firing line over the he has has several high profile disputes with Ja Rule, Britney Spears, Will Smith, Limp Bizkit and Christina Aguilera.
