Emilio Estevez wants to show his under-fire brother Charlie Sheen some Godfather-style tough love for shaming the family with his madcap antics.
The Young Guns actor watched aghast as Sheen hit headlines around the world with his months of wild partying and his war of words with Two and a Half Men creator Chuck Lorre, which ended in his sacking from the hit comedy earlier this month (Mar11).
And he's convinced his brother is in need of an intervention from his family, likening the scenario to the infamous climax of Oscar-winning Mafia movie The Godfather: Part II, when Michael Corleone metes out justice to his own brother, Fredo.
Estevez tells Britain's Culture magazine, "There's that thing in The Godfather: Part II of, 'I love you, Fredo, you're my brother, but don't ever take sides with anyone against the family', then Michael Corleone has to have Fredo 'taken out' on the boat. There are times, like these, when I want to take Charlie out for a boat ride.
"Charlie should know that he might have a boat ride in the future. Someone's got to be Michael Corleone."
But Estevez is also adamant he cannot step in and advise his younger brother on the error of his ways: "All I can do for Charlie, and I can't live his life for him, is to try to be an example. But, really, I was a pretty poor one.
"As a kid, I was smart enough to be surreptitious about all my misbehaviour, or at least stealthy. But it means that my opinions carry little weight with Charlie."
