Dexter became the first double winner at the Golden Globe Awards in Hollywood on Sunday night (17Jan10) when John lithgow and Michael C. Hall claimed prizes.
Lithgow picked up the night's second honour for Best Supporting Actor in a TV Series, Miniseries or TV Movie, while Hall was named Best Actor in a TV Series/Drama.
Wearing a wool cap, the star, who last week (ends15Jan10) revealed he was battling cancer, looked pale but happy as he revealed he was so "grateful" to be a part of the TV series, in which he plays a serial killer, during his acceptance speech.
He also offered his "love and gratitude" to his actress wife Jennifer Carpenter, who plays his sister on the show.
The TV show has had major success at the Golden Globes with a string of nominations since 2006 but this is the first time that the show has picked up gongs.
