Editors of a British men's magazine have apologized on behalf of celebrity columnist Danny Dyer after he advised a heartbroken reader to "cut" his ex-girlfriend's face.

In his Ask Danny column for Zoo magazine, the actor suggested a heartbroken 23-year-old reader could "cut your ex's face, and then no one will want her" when asked for advice on how to get over a break-up.

He wrote, "You've got nothing to worry about, son. I'd suggest going out on a rampage with the boys, getting on the booze and smashing anything that moves.

"Then, when some bird (woman) falls for you, you can turn the tables and break her heart. Of course, the other option is to cut your ex's face, and then no one will want her."

The violent advice sparked complaints from offended subscribers, prompting a Zoo editor to "apologize unreservedly for any offense the response may have caused."

A spokesperson for publishers Bauer Media insists Dyer does not "condemn any violence against women". The publishers have vowed to make a donation to a U.K. charity against domestic violence.
