Spelling Defends Spears....

Candy Spelling has pledged her support to troubled star Britney Spears after a string of traffic offences.Earlier this month (Nov07), Spears knocked a paparazzo off his motorcycle, drove over the foot of two photographers, and ran a red light in Los Angeles.She narrowly escaped a hit and run conviction in October (07) after agreeing to settle an August (07) parking lot accident out of court.But the 62-year-old widow of TV mogul Aaron Spelling - and mother of actress Tori - has called for the law to leave Spears alone.She says, "Enough. It's time to leave this girl alone. She didn't run over the feet of the two paparazzi or one sheriff's deputy on purpose. I've seen 'breaking news' of her driving on many networks, and I don't think her aim is that good."Feet must not count. We've already learned they are just misdemeanours.Fortunately, the foot faults do not seem (to) have resulted in any injuries to the three victims. (But) that can't be the case for Spears, though, or her children whose terrified faces we see each time the paparazzi invade her car to get new photos."Three feet is enough," she continued. "We all know that something terrible is destined to happen to Spears, her kids, one of the photographers or innocent bystanders if she isn't given a few feet of space and privacy. How about a time out?"

Last week (ends18Nov07), a judge banned Spears from driving with her sons, two-year-old Sean Preston and one-year-old Jayden James, in the same car.
