David and Victoria Beckham have confirmed their youngest son was named after their Hollywood pal Tom Cruise.
Soccer star David and his singer-turned-fashion-designer wife share three boys - Brooklyn, 10, Romeo, six, and Cruz, four - and have been close friends with the Top Gun star and his actress wife Katie Holmes since they met in 2003.
The sports ace tells The Beckham Experiment author Grant Wahl how he conjured up his youngest son's trendy moniker.
He tells Wahl, "I must admit, when (Victoria and I) met Tom, I remember turning around to Victoria and saying, 'Cruise is a great name, but we could spell it different.'
"And also, living in Spain, Cruz is spelled the way it is in Spanish. So that's why we got it."
The couple married back in 1999, they already had a son Brooklyn. Since they married they have had two more children; Romeo annd Cruz who is the youngest.
