Darren Aronofsky, David Fincher and Tom Hooper have had a huge boost in their Oscar hopes are the trio are among the nominees for the top gong at the 2011 Directors Guild of America Awards.
The five-strong shortlist is made up by Christopher Nolan and David O Russell for the prestigious DGA Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Feature Film for 2010.
Aronofsky's ballet drama Black Swan was nominated, along with Fincher's Facebook inspired film The Social Network and Nolan for his sci-fi smash Inception.
The British monarchy film The King's Speech and Russell's The Fighter also earned mentions.
The 63rd annual awards dinner will be held on 29 January 2011 in Los Angeles.
