Annie Lennox is showing her support for a new initiative, calling for a global truce on Peace Day next year to 'create the largest reduction of violence in recorded history.'
The former Eurthymics star, who is a longterm charity supporter and United Nations goodwill ambassador, has filmed a promo pledging her support for the Global Truce 2012 campaign.
Organisation Peace One Day is calling for all military battles and violence to be put on hold for 24 hours next September.
She tweeted: "I've pledged my support for #GlobalTruce2012 on film - you can get involved too!"
The singer posted a link to the Peace One Day website, where fans can view the video clip.
In the film she says: "This year Peace One Day are launching a 365 day countdown calling for 24 hours of ceasefire and non-violence on Peace Day, the 21st of September, 2012. A global truce, aiming to create the largest reduction of violence in recorded history."
