Unfortunately 2011 was not exactly a vintage year for comedy - we can only hope that 2012 can offer us a little bit more in the way of laughs.
And The Change-Up is a perfect of example of what I was just saying as, quite frankly, it is down right awful.
Dave is a married man with two kids and a loving wife, and Mitch is a single man who is at the prime of his sexual life.
One fateful night while Mitch and Dave are peeing in a fountain when lightning strikes and they switch bodies.
We have seen identity switch comedies before and sadly this is exactly like what we have seen before it offers nothing in the way of originality.
There are some good bantering moments between Reynolds and Bateman but there is not much more than can be said for these two central performances.
They do the best with what they are given, and to be honest it’s not much, and even their comic talents can bring this script to life.
But the major problem with the Change-Up, and this can be said of most comedy movies of last year, it really lacked laughs.
The poop jokes are the only memorable ones and it just lacks wit and a little bit of comedy sophistication - this really is bottom of the barrel.
The Change- Up is a major disappointment and really has no redeeming features whatsoever - I really would give this one a wide berth!
The Change Up is out on DVD & Blu-Ray now
