Crazy Stupid Love DVD

Starring: Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, Julianne Moore, Kevin Bacon
Director: Glenn Ficarra & John Requa
Rating: 3.5/5

Another romantic comedy and another impressive line-up, seems to becoming a bit of a habit in this genre a the moment, except this time round they have blended comedy talent such as Carell and Stone with actors such as Gosling and Moore; who we don’t see tackle this genre very often.

The movie follows Cal, a middle-aged husband whose life changes dramatically when his wife asks him for a divorce.

He seeks to rediscover his manhood with the help of a new-found friend Jacob, learning to pick up girls at bars.

And despite Cal's makeover and his many new conquests, the one thing that can't be made over is his heart, which seems to keep leading him back to where he began.

For the most this is a witty script that intertwines the characters and the loves lines beautifully - the twist with Emma Stone’s character was one that I definitely didn’t see coming.

The cast really is superb with Carell and Gosling banter well together, it’s hard to believe that this is Gosling’s first comedy role.

He oozes charm and wit and the scene were he is ‘educating’ Cal in the ways of women are some of the best in the movie.

And it is Gosling who does the steal the show as the self assured and suave Jacob - and while he is a serial womaniser he is a character that you can’t help but like and cheer for when he finally meets an unexpected match in Hannah - the superb Emma Stone.

Crazy, Stupid, Love is a fun movie that many of us can relate to; a marriage that has gone a little stale, our first crush and the excitement of a new relationship with someone we didn’t expect.

Crazy Stupid Love is a movie that is filled with some really likeable characters, some great moments and fab performances.

Ok so the movie was a tad long and I didn’t like the ending too much but this is a sweet natured movie with some really great laughs - in fact I enjoyed it more this time around than I did when I saw it on the big screen.

In all Crazy, Stupid, Love is a heart-felt movie that depicts the highs and lows of this mysterious thing called love.
