Ben Wheatley’s A Field In England will be the first ever film to be released in UK nationwide cinemas, on free TV, on Blu-ray & DVD and on Video-on-Demand on the same day - with Film4, Picturehouse Entertainment, 4DVD and Film4 Channel partnering for nationwide multi-platform distribution on Friday 5th July 2013.
Starring Michael Smiley (Kill List), Peter Ferdinando (Tony), Reece Shearsmith (The League of Gentlemen), Julian Barratt (The Mighty Boosh), Richard Glover (Sightseers) and Ryan Pope (Ideal), A Field In England tells the story of a group of 17th century soldiers in the English Civil War.
The plot centres on the aftermath of a large battle in which a group of deserters are captured by an alchemist (Michael Smiley) and his henchman. The two force their captives to help them search for hidden treasure they believe is buried in the field, but not until they have feasted on a vast patch of mushrooms.
Crossing a large mushroom circle, which provides their first meal, the group quickly descend into a chaos of arguments, fighting and paranoia, and, as it becomes clear that the treasure might be something other than gold, the group of deserters slowly become victim to the terrifying energies trapped inside the field.
Forget everything you know. A Field In England is dark, bold, twisted and will take you on an unforgettable, head spinning journey. A Field In England is available to watch through UK nationwide cinemas, on free TV, on DVD and on Video-on-Demand from the 5th July, 2013.
Take a psychedelic trip into magic and madness with the Blu-ray & DVD, available to own from 5th July 2013.
